During the Keynote Address, “The Changing Face of Mobility,” Uber’s Head of Global Policy for Public Transportation Chris Pangilinan discussed some of the ways the TNC is partnering with public transit agencies to boost mobility.
The new buses are part of the California Energy Commission's $94 million school bus replacement program to help pupil transportation providers replace more than 200 diesel school buses throughout the state.
The technology will be tested at Robotic Research facilities in late 2019, with closed course operation anticipated for 2020.
The resolution also calls for complete electrification of Chicago Transit Authority’s bus fleet by 2040.
