Udelv announced that Planzer Parcel, a Swiss courier service, has placed an order for Udelv’s first European Transporters.

Udelv produces middle- and last-mile electric cab-less autonomous delivery vehicles for multi-stop delivery runs, called Transporters. The fully electric vehicles feature Udelv’s cargo robotics comprised of a suite of hardware and software for loading and unloading, telematics and fleet management, and are powered by Intel’s Mobileye autonomous driving sensors and computers.

“Planzer has always prided itself on helping our customers’ goods arrive safely and sustainably,” said Nils Planzer, CEO of Planzer. “Udelv’s autonomous driving solution, the Transporter, is good for the environment and adds great value to the bottom line of our customers.  We can’t wait for our first delivery within the next year.”

Udelv said its customers expect the Transporters to improve the efficiency of last- and middle-mile delivery services for everything from baked goods and auto parts to groceries and medical supplies.

“We are thrilled to bring the Udelv Transporter to Europe and honored to count Planzer as our first European customer,” said Udelv chief corporate development officer Tobias Wessels. “Autonomous delivery is quickly becoming a worldwide reality as the answer to the skyrocketing growth in e-commerce.  With sweeping cost reductions over traditional driver-based services, public interest in contactless delivery, electrification of commercial fleets, shortage of drivers and a rapid growth in online deliveries, Udelv’s autonomous delivery vehicle will help Planzer lead the way.”
