Motor Trend drove the 20202 Rivian R1T and calls it “the most remarkable pickup” they’ve ever driven.

The 2022 Rivian R1T is the first mass-produced electric truck in the U.S., according to Motor Trend.

The R1T features a four-motor, four-wheel-drive system with a height-adjustable air suspension, and interconnected hydraulics for damping and roll control.

The vehicle also has a 300-mile estimated range and can be switched to two-wheel drive. It also has an air compressor built in.

In addition, the R1T has a full-width pass-through behind the rear seats and ahead of the bed called the Gear Tunnel. Motor Trend calls the interior storage “lacking.”

Motor Trend discusses one possible issue with the R1T. The user interface minimizes the use of physical switchgear and includes touchscreen menus and multipurpose buttons on the steering wheel. Air condition vents must also be adjusted through the screen.

Overall, Motor Trend describes the Rivian R1T as “the future of the pickup truck.”

The price for the 2022 Rivian R1T is estimated at $67,500-$73,000.
